Description
Antique dump rake sitting underneath the overhang of an old red barn in rural Arkansas. The seat is missing, but other than that, it looks as if you could hook it up to a horse and rake hay!

My dad was asleep last night, so I asked my mom... I thought you used it for hay, but she said she thought it was something called a brim plow... not for deep plowing... I thought there was a seat missing... I remember seeing pictures of horses pulling them with a farmer sitting on a seat... thanks for the info... I'll change the title now and go beat my mom up! LOL

Great Photo! A pretty, typical old farm scene with old machinery. As an old farmer... I had to chuckle at your title... It's not an antique plow, it's a dump rake, used for raking hay into bunches in the olden days. Yes, I have one and have used it. The horses, or tractor, would go down the field with the tines down gathering hay till there was a big pile in front of the tines, the operator sitting on the seat, (missing on your rake) would raise the tines and dump the pile of hay. The farmer could then load the hay on a wagon with his pitch fork.
